About Madelyn

Hi, I’m Madelyn Alexander Baggett, an artist based in Charleston, South Carolina.

Originally from Covington, Georgia, I’ve called Charleston home since 2011, when I moved here to attend the College of Charleston. I’ve been creating art since I was a child—some of my earliest memories are painting with my grandmother, Lorraine “Granny Rainey.”

Whether it was my mom enrolling me in after-school art classes, summers spent at Camp Greystone (where I stacked my schedule full of art), or my middle and high school art teachers introducing me to new mediums, art is the one thing I’ve stuck with for over 30 years.

My work is inspired by the things I love: places, meals, cocktails, and moments shared with friends and family. I work across a range of mediums including oil painting, printmaking, and sculpture, driven by an obsession with all things fun, funky, and wildly creative.

My signature Waffle Plates are inspired by my Georgia roots and countless meals shared at Waffle House. From growing up ordering All-Star Specials with my dad to late-night gatherings with friends, Waffle House has always been there—just like my art. This collection was created to celebrate Southern culture, comfort, and the joy of those moments.

I approach all of my art with intention, playfulness, and a desire to tell a really good story—another one of my favorite pastimes.

Feel free to reach out if you’d like to collaborate on a commissioned piece or place a special order.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my work. I’m so glad you’re here.

Now… would y’all pass the syrup, please?
